Goodyear Heights Metro Park

There are few spots in the greater Akron area that I love more than this stunner of a park. Before moving downtown, we lived in Tallmadge, and right across the street was the Goodyear Heights Metro Park. It’s where we’d take Ted for long walks and deer sightings. Those deer always got Ted excited. There are many trails of differing abilities, baseball fields, pavilions and lots of picnic tables. There’s even a sledding hill in the winter! My favorite feature is Alder Pond. It’s just so lovely. There’s a trail that takes you around the perimeter, and for a bit right over the marshy parts on a newly redesigned boardwalk.

Another reason this park is so dear to me, is because I proposed to Greg there at the edge of Alder Pond on our anniversary in 2014.

While it’s not “just across the street” anymore, it is always a treat to go back for visits. It feels like our out-of-doors home.
